Get Ready to Cook Up Better Health During American Diabetes Month® November is American Diabetes Month (ADM), a time to communicate the seriousness of diabetes and the importance of diabetes prevention and control. Starting Oct. 28, the American Diabetes Association will showcase America Gets CookingSM to Stop Diabetes®, an initiative designed to inspire Americans to enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle. Each week, the Association will share relevant information such as healthy cooking tips, diabetes and nutrition facts, recipe ideas and more. In addition, we’ll be asking Americans every week to vote for their favorite holiday recipes, including a healthy side dish, appetizer and/or dessert. At the end of the month, we’ll unveil the selected dishes and reveal the winning holiday meal.
Join us for an entire month of tips on staying healthy throughout the holiday season (and beyond) and focusing the nation's attention on the issues surrounding this serious, costly health threat and the millions of people who are affected by diabetes and its burdens.

Association Resources for Childcare Providers On Tuesday, Sept. 23, the Association published a new position statement in Diabetes Care on Diabetes Management in the Childcare Setting. The statement addresses legal protections for young children with diabetes and how they can be safely cared for by child care providers with appropriate training, access to resources and a system of communication with parents and the child’s diabetes provider. In addition to the position statement, the Association has a wealth of information and materials available for download at diabetes.org/childcare, including our child care brochure, Children with Diabetes in the Child Care Setting, and a Diabetes Medical Management Plan, among other resources. If you or someone you know is having an issue with a child care provider, please call 1-800-DIABETES to speak with one of our legal advocates.
