| Dear Friend: "Your child has diabetes." If you're a parent who's heard these words, your world has turned upside down and inside out. It's a shocking diagnosis that no one is prepared to receive. If you have diabetes, or someone you know has been diagnosed with diabetes, you know that fear all too well. Diabetes is a scary, unrelenting, deadly disease. Be a hero to families and their loved ones fighting diabetes. Help us raise $1 million to get closer to a cure. For young children like Logan who have diabetes, this disease is especially devastating. They're instantly different, constantly monitored, and pricked with needles multiple times a day, every day. But there's one place and time where diabetes means something different — our diabetes summer camp. Camp is one of the few places where children with diabetes feel less alone. By developing skills to take care of themselves and a positive attitude about living with diabetes, they prove that diabetes can't stop them. This year, 5,400 children attended our diabetes camps. Sixty percent of the cost is underwritten by the Association and made possible because of donations from generous supporters like you. Here, with the help of trained and knowledgeable staff (many living with diabetes themselves!), children turn knowledge into health, connections into emotional strength, and fear into resilience. You are the superpower behind these superheroes. Your gift today will help improve lives. We need to raise $1 million by Dec. 31 to continue to provide resources — like our diabetes summer camps — that can make such a big difference to families living with diabetes. Please donate now. A record 1.9 million people will be diagnosed with diabetes in the next 12 months — will you help them? Friend, this is not the time to hold back. Parents, friends, families, adults and children living with every type of diabetes — we are all working together to Stop Diabetes®. Camps, legal protection, advocacy, research, better treatments, a cure
they aren't possible without the generous support of people like you. Can you please help now? Every gift makes a difference. Sincerely, Suzanne Berry Interim Chief Executive Officer American Diabetes Association P.S. Even superheroes have deadlines, and ours is Dec. 31. We need every dollar to turn back this epidemic. We're making great strides, but we're not stopping until we Stop Diabetes®. Donate today. |
