| We Have a Million Reasons to Celebrate, and They All Begin with You! Dear Andrea: Thank you, and Happy New Year! Your contributions to the American Diabetes Association last year gave every person struggling with diabetes hope for a cure. In the final few weeks of 2014, thousands of generous people like you came together and helped us raise a record-setting $1.4 million to Stop Diabetes®. We couldn't have done it without you! For 75 years, supporters of the American Diabetes Association have been the driving force in the fight to end diabetes. Together we've made tremendous strides and given millions of families the most precious gift of all — life. So today, let's celebrate our success and ring in the New Year with hope! SHARE YOUR SUCCESS AND HOPE FOR THE FUTURE BY PASSING ON ONE OF THESE INSPIRATIONAL IMAGES: When I think of how far we've come together, especially as we begin preparing for our 75th Anniversary celebration, I'm astounded. It's easy to forget that before the discovery of insulin, diabetes was a death sentence. Most people with diabetes back then didn't make it to age 10. Since the American Diabetes Association was born in 1940, the experience of living with diabetes has improved dramatically, from home glucose monitoring and synthetic insulin to disposable syringes. Your gifts make these miracles possible. Help us welcome the New Year with greater hope — take a few minutes to share these inspirational images with friends on Facebook and Twitter today. Here's how you are making a difference for people living with diabetes: - YOU fund the essential, daily, lifesaving research that brings us closer to a cure
- YOU save lives by increasing awareness about diabetes and its consequences
- YOU empower children with diabetes by defending their right to be safe at school and by educating them at diabetes camps about how to better manage their diabetes
Amazing. This is worth sharing, don't you think? So celebrate today, and tomorrow we march on to Stop Diabetes®. Because insulin is not a cure for diabetes, and the need for our services and a cure has never been greater. I'm so grateful to have your support on this journey ahead. I wish you and yours a peaceful, happy and healthy 2015. With deep appreciation, Suzanne Berry Interim Chief Executive Officer American Diabetes Association |
