Step On Up!

American Diabetes Association

Dear Friend,

cedric

Over the past year, you may have seen award-winning actor and comedian Cedric "The Entertainer" spreading the word about a serious complication of diabetes known as painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (pDPN), or diabetic nerve pain. Cedric's joined Step On Up - an educational program developed as a collaboration between Pfizer and the American Diabetes Association® aimed at educating the more than 29 million Americans living with diabetes about diabetic nerve pain. Cedric's connection to the condition is personal -- his father has type 2 diabetes and suffers from diabetic nerve pain.

Did you know?

  • Nearly half of people in the U.S. with diabetes have some form of nerve damage but many don't even know it.
  • One in five people with diabetes has diabetic nerve pain, which causes burning, shooting pain in the feet or hands.

This year, Cedric is back traveling around the country continuing to raise awareness. In recognition of American Diabetes Month®, consider talking with your doctor about your diabetic nerve pain symptoms. If you have already taken action to address your diabetic nerve pain, let us know by using the hashtag #StepOnUp on social media. And don't forget to visit StepOnUp.com to learn more about this condition, and take a Diabetic Nerve Pain Assessment that you can bring to your next doctor's visit.

Let's all support Cedric this month in the mission to raise awareness about diabetic nerve pain!
