To improve diabetes care, American Diabetes Association Pathway to Stop Diabetes Scientist Zhen Gu, PhD, has developed a "smart insulin" patch. The small, thin patch features microneedles, each the size of an eyelash, loaded with enzymes that trigger the rapid release of insulin when blood glucose levels are too high.
