Andrea ,

Last year we received 730 research proposals from promising scientists with ideas that have the potential to transform the way we understand and treat diabetes.

After extensive review by expert diabetes scientists, we funded 84 outstanding projects. But, there were just as many stellar proposals that we could not afford to fund.

MATCH MY GIFT

100% of your gift will support research

It is incredibly frustrating to think we could be missing out on so many important studies that might lead to the next breakthrough for people with diabetes.

That's why I'm asking you to take advantage of this incredible opportunity to double your support for diabetes research.

Make a tax-deductible gift to support our research efforts and it will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to the campaign total of $200,000 by the Amaranth Diabetes Foundation.

This is a special campaign—100% of your contribution, every dollar, will go to fund critical diabetes research that will improve lives.

The reality is that diabetes kills more Americans each year than breast cancer and HIV/AIDS combined. Yet diabetes research receives far less government research funding and time is precious.

Tens of millions of Americans are at risk.

Donate today to have your gift matched and send twice the resources to the scientists on the front lines of diabetes research.

American Diabetes Association research grants support groundbreaking research:

Currently, people with type 1 diabetes and advanced type 2 diabetes have to prick their fingers for blood tests and take insulin shots EVERY DAY to manage their blood glucose levels. To improve diabetes care, American Diabetes Association Pathway to Stop Diabetes Scientist Zhen Gu, PhD, has developed a "smart insulin" patch. The small, thin patch features microneedles, each the size of an eyelash, loaded with enzymes that trigger the rapid release of insulin when blood glucose levels are too high. This technology could be a game-changer for diabetes management, mimicking a healthy pancreas and potentially doing away with daily insulin injections.

Thank you so much for your support—it makes all the difference.

Sincerely,

Tamara Darsow, PhD
