This Is Our Truth. #ThisIsDiabetes

American Diabetes Month® Header

Dear Andrea,

Whether it’s monitoring your blood glucose, taking medication or following a healthy lifestyle, managing diabetes is a full-time job on top of school, work, family and the other demands life throws your way. But diabetes can also be invisible, and as you know, its relentless nature is often overlooked.

During this second week of American Diabetes Month®, we want you to share what it really takes to manage this disease 24/7/365. Stand up and show everyone: This Is Diabetes™.

Think about the countless diabetes-related decisions you make—whether it’s waking up in the middle of the night to check your (or a loved one’s) blood glucose, or counting carbohydrates before meals. Think about its various signs, symptoms and complications. Think about your health care team and the support you have received throughout your diabetes journey.

This Is Diabetes

Don’t be shy—post these realities on social media using #ThisIsDiabetes. And follow our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts to learn more about our efforts to improve diabetes care for the millions of people with the disease.

Tell the world something they don’t understand about having diabetes. After all, you are the center of your health care team, and you tell this story best.

We’ll be listening, and we hope you will join us to ignite a bigger conversation about diabetes care!

Sincerely,

The American Diabetes Association
