EMERGENCY RELIEF FOR PEOPLE WITH DIABETES: Did you know that thanks to your support, we, along with our partners, were able to distribute lifesaving insulin, syringes, and other essential supplies to people with diabetes in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico in the wake of hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. ADVANCING RESEARCH: This year we funded 253 researchers who are working to develop better treatments and striving to solve diabetes’ remaining mysteries, moving us ever closer to a cure. GAVE YOUR DOCTOR EFFECTIVE RESOURCES: We provided free tools, information, and professional education about diabetes care to thousands of primary care providers so that their patients are receiving the best possible care. SAVING LIVES: Reached more of the 84 million Americans living with prediabetes so that they can take steps to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes. Most people with prediabetes actually have no idea they’re at risk for diabetes. Raising awareness truly saves lives. KEEPING INSULIN AFFORDABLE: Waged a campaign to make insulin affordable. We will keep going until no person is forced to choose between insulin and groceries or a utility bill. HELPING THE NEWLY DIAGNOSED: Served as a lifeline for people who’ve just been diagnosed with diabetes, providing the information, tools, and support they need to keep themselves healthy and adjust to new reality of life with diabetes. STANDING UP TO DISCRIMINATION: Protected the rights of people with diabetes in schools, the workplace, and in communities through legal support and advocacy efforts. CHANGING KIDS’ LIVES: Empowered kids living with diabetes to manage their disease more independently, all while having fun at our safe and supportive summer camps. SERVING UP HEALTHY LIVING: Provided resources on healthy eating and staying active and fit to help more people improve their lifestyle and health. MAKING BREAKTHROUGHS POSSIBLE: More than 16,000 doctors, researchers, and care providers from around the globe came together at our annual Scientific Sessions to exchange knowledge and ideas and build on each other’s expertise and advances to fight diabetes.
