MAKE A DIFFERENCE
YOUR GIFT WILL BE MATCHED

Andrea,
"You don't look like you have diabetes."
People mean it is a compliment, but it is not. Unfortunately, there is still so much misinformation and assumptions out there about diabetes and who can get it and what they look like. That is why we have to be as relentless as the disease we are fighting, to wake up the world to the realities of diabetes.
When you support the American Diabetes Association with a generous gift, you will invest in education, advocacy, and research that makes a world of difference in fighting diabetes and the stigma that goes along with it. Colgate® Total®, one of our national sponsors, has issued a challenge to all supporters to take a stand against diabetes: If we can raise $50,000 by the end of the month, Colgate® Total® will donate an additional $50,000 in recognition of American Diabetes Month.
A person with diabetes looks like Hunter Sego. He is a student, a college football player and was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was just seven years old. His everyday reality is having to always be vigilant and paying attention to every decision that he makes. Like me, Hunter has heard "You don't look like you have diabetes."
